Canva and PDFs

We have a couple of design tips for our customers who use the on-line design application called Canva.

The first tip is to create your design at the actual size you want your piece to be. You'll have a better idea of what your finished piece will look like when printed. For instance, if you want a full size letter sheet to fold in half, then the pages will actually be 5.5" x 8.5", not 8.5" x 11". Also, if using a default size, remember the default in the U.S. is 8.5" x 11", or Letter-size. Often the default on Canva is A-4 size, which is 8.27" x 11.69", which won't fit well on our standard Letter-size paper. So be sure to double check your sizes.

The second tip is about saving or downloading your design. Canva started out as an on-line design program to design for on-line purposes, like websites. On screen everything may look fine, but when printed, issues may arise. Two ways to help your design print its best is to choose the highest resolution available when saving or downloading your PDF. Also, many of Canva's fonts are proprietary and may not print correctly on different printers. Be sure to flatten the PDF as this may help eliminate font issues of printing. We hope these tips help ease your design and print experiences.
