Proportionality

Just a quick note to help alleviate any confusion: in mathematics, proportionality indicates that two quantities or variables are related in a linear manner.

That is, in printing, if one side doubles in size, so does the side next to it. So if you double in size a card that is  5.5" x 8.5" , you don't get 8.5" x 11", you get 2 X (5.5" x 8.5") which is 11" x 17".

We can force the original 5.5" to become 8.5" and the original 8.5" to become 11", but then the end result will be disproportionate, (stretched or squished).
